One Room Challenge - Week 3 Wrap Up

This was a slower week as I got back to my real job, but, still progress!

I stained and restained the shelves. The first go around left a lot to be desired as the stainable wood filler didn’t live up to its name. But the extra work paid off because the wood filler spots are all gone!

I’ve learned to use courser grit and remove the wood filler almost completely before you stain.

The biggest win - we got a microwave that fits! Kind of!

The width was perfect but the height was a but short. Luckily the cabinet company sent me tons of extra trim so I used a bit of that and some wood glue to fill it in.

We adhered it to the cabinet with double sided tape to make sure it didn’t move around in the cabinet. There’s a lot of extra space in there!
This all had to be done by Tuesday when they are coming to install the granite (and this will really start to look like a finished space!

Punch list from here on out:

  • Polyurethane the shelves

  • Granite installed!

  • Tile

  • Find some gorgeous switch and outlet covers

  • Then the part we all live for - ORGANIZE!
