My newest obsession: Pura.

I’ve always struggled with home scents. Candles are great, but you have to remember to light them, and blow them out, and then they’re gone forever and maybe this was a candle that a friend got you that you don’t know how to replace, etc. Or, more often than not, they aren’t strong enough to throw scent other than when you’re right on top of them. Things like glade plugins have highly artificial and cheap smells to them. And I’m not an incense person. So when I discovered Pura, I truly feel like my scent wishes were granted. This isn’t an ad or sponsored by the way, I just really love it.

What is Pura?

Pura is a plug in device that is really beautiful. The focus unlike the major brands is not on artificially colored oil, but rather a pretty white orb.

It blends in and is understated and looks rather pretty damn cool.

Each device plugs in and holds two vials of oil. When running 24 hours a day at about 50% strength, these two vials will last me ~2-3 weeks total. However, the beauty of Pura is what’s inside - the technology.

How it works

You buy the device - with minimal searching you can find a code for a free device with the purchase of two fragrances. This is a great deal because the device costs $44 on it’s own - which I think is totally worth it, but it’s a bit more than the $6.99 plug in you might be using now.

You then get a fragrance subscription. There are dozens to choose from so if you aren’t familiar with the scents, it may take some time to find what you like. However, they have big brand name collaborations like Nest fragrance (and Disney - but I haven’t found one of those I like yet - don’t tell Mickey).

My all time favorite is the Bamboo scent from Nest. This lives in our hallways and our kitchen most frequently.

Brian’s is Fern + Moss from the Brooklyn Candle Studio. This one is typically in his office and our attic.

The Technology

Ya’ll know I love automation. I’m a busy girl and I often forget to refill things around the house. However - the Pura app makes this easy peasy for me. The subscription auto sends refills and I can swap scents out whenever I want. I get a shipment once a month and it carries me through to the next month.

The app allows you to take full control of all of your devices in one place.

  • It lets you know when you are low on fragrance and where

  • It lets you set freaking schedules for each device and each individual vial of fragrance - so I don’t have my devices running in rooms we aren’t in at times we aren’t in them

  • You can manually override any of the schedules with a simple tap

  • It lets you control the intensity of the fragrance. I typically have ours set in between 40-60% depending on the room

  • And they all come with light changing nightlights. You can have them on or off but it’s such a nice added bonus in hallways and bathrooms. You can also tweak the brightness to your ideal setting.

Highly recommend if you’re in the market for home fragrance!
