Paint is magic.

Paint can transform a space faster, cheaper, and easier than almost any other change you can make. I’ve been playing around with trying to get my whole house colors flow and not clash - which means a lot of painting. I’ll take you through some of the more colorful spots in my home below.

“Charleston Grey” by Farrow & Ball

I’ve painted the powder room 3 times in the past 2 years (and even had a quick wallpaper failure) but I’ve finally landed on this gorgeous warm grey from Farrow & Ball called “Charleston Grey.” It’s slightly mauve, slightly brown, and slightly grey. I chose to paint the trim here not only to tie it up into the ceiling wallpaper, but also in a small room, it felt too disjointed with white trim. The floors are a white and grey tile and the vanity is white and that was enough brightness. I may even replace the tile with something very dark in the future.

“Railings” by Farrow and Ball

Most of my home is filled with clean, modern lines and neutral colors - which I truly love. But, in the space that is completely mine, I wanted to go a bit more dramatic. This black with navy undertones was the perfect thing to compliment a slight art deco vibe I have going on with the decor.

White is “Polar Bear” by BEHR; Grey-Green is “Pigeon” by Farrow & Ball

Pigeon is by far my favorite of all colors. It’s a chameleon - changing from a soft green to grey depending on the light. No matter which way it’s leaning, it’s incredibly calming, perfect for our bed nook. Polar Bear is a very clean white that reads slightly warm with pink undertones. It’s perfect for a bedroom where the typical white in the rest of my house is more stark (but we’ll get to that).

“Narragansett Green” by Benjamin Moore

This color changed the game for our kitchen. When we moved in, everything was white with the worst grey tiles you’ve ever seen. But this blue-green-grey gave us the opportunity to go lighter with the backsplash, get some pretty gold hardware, and make the kitchen look truly custom.

“Ultra Pure White” by BEHR

After roughly 1 million mistakes with white paint, I’ve become quite the purist. Ultra Pure White has no additional tint to it. It’s just white. It’s clean, it’s neutral, it goes with anything. It’s also super bright and looks amazing with light wood.

  • FrogTape is by far the superior painters tape - go green!

  • Wooster Shortcut brush - it’s tiny and fits in my hands perfectly

  • Go with the “BEST” Painting set at Home Depot. I’m obsessed with the microfiber rollers.

Have fun and try new things!
